Free Aberdeen!

Following the recent vote for the devolution of Scotland, the Campaign to Realise Aberdeen's Potential has been formed, with the intention to throw off the yoke of Scottish colonialism, and return Power to the People , where it belongs!

For too long, Aberdeen has subsidised the rest of Scotland, paying for Scotland's inefficient bagpipe manufacturers and highland haggis farms from the natural creativity and wealth of Aberdeen's people. Aberdeen says "No more!".

Aberdeen is a proud city, an independent city, a city of free spirits, a city of oil. Why should its people be subjected to the rule (and taxes) of a foreign power?

Without the monstrous iniquity of its subsidy to Scotland, Aberdeen would be one of the richest countries of the world. We propose the formation of the Independent Emirate of Aberdeen (whose territory would include the oil terminal at Cruden Bay), a benign absolute monarchy, with no resources being wasted on supporting the bureaucracy of democracy.

We would not join the EU (as we would not want to subsidise that, either) but would instead ally ourselves with OPEC and take our rightful place in the G7. We do not anticipate any difficulty in obtaining a seat in the UN (any protests would simply result in us refusing to supply oil to the United Kingdom).

We believe that the time has come to modernise our relationship with Scotland and the United Kingdom, to break free of the grasp of a rapacious landlord, to say "New Emirate, new Aberdeen!".
